Eminence is a Kentucky city located in Henry County. The population of the city is about 2,200 according to the 2000 United States Census. Eminence is the largest city in Henry County. The city was incorporated in 1851 and is the highest point between Louisville and Lexington, sitting 900 feet above sea level. During the American Civil War, Union troops camped on the city’s fairgrounds for 3 years. Eminence is the only city in Henry County that is allowed to sell alcohol.

Located within Eminence are many things to see and do. Eminence Day is an annual celebration of the city that features a parade, live music, food, booths, and different contests. The city also hosts many other events and celebrations such as the Renaissance Fair, a fall festival, a Halloween festival, and many others. There are also many things to see and do outside of Eminence. The city is located about 40 miles east of downtown Louisville. Due to the city’s close proximity to one of Kentucky’s major cities, residents can also enjoy the various activities available in Louisville.

Eminence experiences weather that is widely different each season. Summers in the city are usually warm and humid. Daytime temperatures in the city average in the mid to high-80s on the average. Nighttime temperatures during this season can dip into upper-50s and lower-60s. Residents should invest in an efficient cooling system to remain comfortable during the summers in the city.

Winters in Eminence are often cold. Record temperatures in the city have dipped well below freezing. Snow is also very common in Eminence. The month of January receives an average of snowfall of 4 inches each year.
