Waddy, Kentucky is an unincorporated community located in the northern portion of the state. The community is situated in Shelby County and has a population of about 2,300 people. Waddy is located off the intersection of Kentucky Routes 395 and 2867. It is about 11 miles southeast of Shelbyville. The community was founded in 1888 and served as a station for the Southern Railway. It is named for William L. Waddy who donated the land on which the community sits. The community has maintained a post office that was originally opened in 1888.

Although Waddy is a rather small community, there are many things to see and do in the area. Frogmore Farm is a landmark and historical place located in Waddy. The city of Frankfort is located about 15 miles from Waddy. The city has many exciting opportunities to offer such as dining, shopping, and also recreational activities. Many museums are also located in Frankfort, a short drive from Waddy. Individuals living in Waddy will find the community and the surrounding area is filled with many exciting opportunities.

Weather in Waddy varies greatly with each season. Winter in the community tends to be very cold with plenty of snow. Daytime temperatures during the months of December, January, and February vary from the lower to mid-40s.
